World AIDS Day

One of the best books I've read that illustrated the resiliency of the human spirit is What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day by Pearl Cleage. Now If I'd read a blurb about this novel that said, "The protagonist learns she has AIDS and..." I probably wouldn't have read the book thinking it was going to be a serious downer. What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day has no long passages of angst and self-pity. No deep, torturous thoughts reflecting on the cruelties of life. I was so happy that I didn't know that one fact, because this book is laugh-out-loud funny, touching and inspiring. And Ava Johnson is a crazy, wonderful heroine.

I'm sure there are other stories about people living with AIDS. This one is a novel I read and loved. What a great story about courage and hope!

If you want to help go here: Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation or here: Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation or choose whatever local or national charity you like. Let's help. Thanks.
